Canada to EU pet move kit

The EU's pet rules changed on 22 April 2026. From Canada there is no titer test, but the EU certificate endorsed by CFIA must fit a 10-day window, some countries need a dog tapeworm treatment, and the certificate then covers 6 months of onward travel. This kit dates every step.

Who it's for

  • Owners moving a dog or cat from Canada to an EU country.
  • Anyone on a short timeline: about 3 weeks after the primary rabies vaccine at the earliest.
  • Owners moving to Finland, Ireland, Malta or Norway, where dogs need a tapeworm treatment before entry.

How the documents work together

Type your departure and arrival dates in the workbook: it checks the 21-day wait after the primary vaccine, places the certificate and its endorsement inside the 10-day window, fits the dog tapeworm treatment when your destination requires it and shows how long the certificate covers onward travel. The vet brief, checklist and letters follow the same steps.

Questions about this kit

Does my pet need a rabies titer test for the EU?

Not from Canada, which is a listed country, unless your pet transits an unlisted country without the signed transit declaration.

How long is the certificate valid?

It must be used for entry within 10 days, then covers onward travel within the EU for 6 months from the entry checks, or until the rabies vaccine expires if earlier.

Do national rules still apply?

Yes. Dangerous dog laws, registration and local duties differ by EU country. The kit flags them; check the country you move to.
